'Smoke On The Water' has probably one of the most instantly recognisable guitar riffs in the history of rock music. This version however, takes Ritchie Blackmore's guitar riff and plays it on the backbeat, syncopated, over a 12/8 blues rock rhythm. Ian Gillan is still there with the original vocals, however Blackmore's guitar theme, whilst still being an essential element, is not the main driving motif. MFRO believes it is always good to rattle the foundations every now and then!
